Baniyas continued their impressive start to the 2026/27 ADIB Cup, securing a second consecutive victory with a 3-1 win over Al Wahda at Baniyas Stadium in Round 2 of the competition.

The Sky Blues entered the contest determined to build on their positive start to the tournament and produced an organised first-half performance, creating several attacking opportunities while maintaining control of the game.

Baniyas eventually made the breakthrough in the 42nd minute, when Suhail Al Noobi found the back of the net to give the hosts a deserved lead.

The Sky Blues continued to apply pressure before the interval, and Youssouf Niakaté doubled the advantage in the sixth minute of first-half stoppage time (45+6’), sending Baniyas into the break with a 2-0 lead.

Baniyas maintained their composure and organisation after the restart while continuing to search for opportunities to extend their advantage. Their attacking pressure resulted in a third goal in the 78th minute, when Al Wahda’s Facundo Lirussi turned the ball into his own net.

Al Wahda attempted to respond in the closing stages and managed to pull one back through Sam Mark in the 90+1st minute, but the late goal did not affect the outcome of the contest.

Baniyas remained in control through the final moments to secure a 3-1 victory and register their second successive win in the competition.

The result takes Baniyas to six points from their opening two matches, maintaining a perfect start to their ADIB Cup campaign and providing further momentum ahead of the upcoming fixtures.
